Congratulations!

You now have access to the Oxford Visual Perception Screen!

Here are the three essential documents constituting the OxVPS assessment tool:

  • The stimulus book. Kindly print this document on one side of the page. We recommend laminating each page with matt laminating pouches for durability and infection control. Binding them at the top rather than on the side makes it easier for patients with visual neglect.
  • The examiner form. Print this form for each patient. To conserve paper, the file is designed for double-sided printing. The examiner form contains basic instructions for each task and allows you to easily record the patient’s answers. You can compare a patient score on each task with the cut-off score in the header of each task. If a patient scores below the cut-off score, shade the corresponding wedge in the wheel on the front page. In the end, the wheel on the front page will give you an overview on which conditions are likely for your patient. You can get a total score by tallying the unshaded areas across tasks.
  • The manual. This gives you a detailed description of each task and more info on how to administer, score, and interpret the tasks. The manual serves as an in-depth resource, you should hopefully only need to read this once. After that, the info on the examiner form should be sufficient for you to remember the key instructions.

Please be aware that while the test seems promising, it is not yet validated for clinical decision-making purposes. Our research is ongoing and we aim to publish the results in 2024.

By gaining access to OxVPS, including accessing or utilising any of the content therein, you hereby agree to be legally bound by the End-User Terms and Conditions for use of OxVPS.

If you have colleagues who are interested, please ask them to complete the registration form themselves rather than forwarding them the OxVPS documents or download link. The information from the registrations is of vital importance to us. To maintain OxVPS and to develop more resources for clinicians, we need to be able to show our funders that there is sufficient interest in our tools. We don’t ask for payment, but please support us by registering.
